Many aspects of the sale are still under construction, however, here is what we know for so far:
· Initial order taking January 9th - 26th 2009
· Cookie price per box will be $3.00 council-wide.
· Daisy Girl Scouts are now allowed to sell.
· Fun and informative activities for everyone, parents, volunteers, and girls on www.abcsmartcookies.com. Work on goal setting on the above web site under “Catch Goals”.
· Service Unit Cookie Consultants will be organizing and facilitating the Troop Cookie Manager Trainings; dates for these trainings will be announced through your Service Unit. (Except in Dayton, Product Sales Manager will provide Troop trainings.)
· You asked for it you got it! The “original recipe” for the peanut butter is back; ABC will be supplying each troop with a box of each peanut butter cookie (a great idea to use these at samples at your cookie booths).
· Each troop will also be receiving a box of the new cookie Daisy Go Rounds; this crispy cinnamon cookie is a reduced fat cookie and comes in single serve packages.
· Girl Scout is going green! You will notice a reduction of cookie paperwork, especially if you are a volunteer, go to www.abcsmartcookies.com and view all of the print on demand items which will enable you to go a little green yourself.
As noted, some things are still under construction. We will follow up with more exciting cookie news in next month’s E-News. Make sure to visit the website for up-to-date information about the 2009 Girl Scout Cookie Sale!

COOKIE SALE
In July 1922, The American Girl magazine, published by Girl Scout national headquarters, featured an article by Florence E. Neil, a local director in Chicago, Illinois. Miss Neil provided a cookie recipe that was given to the council's 2,000 Girl Scouts. She estimated the approximate cost of ingredients for six- to seven-dozen cookies to be 26 to 36 cents. The cookies, she suggested, could be sold by troops for 25 or 30 cents per dozen. In the 1920s and 1930s, Girl Scouts in different parts of the country continued to bake their own simple sugar cookies with their mothers. These cookies were packaged in wax paper bags, sealed with a sticker, and sold door to door for 25 to 35 cents per dozen.
